About the Author
Jahi Banks is a husband, father, and award-winning author dedicated to telling honest stories rooted in culture, healing, and legacy. Raised in Southeast Washington, D.C., Jahi’s work is shaped by lived experience, community history, and a deep commitment to raising the next generation with intention, dignity, and love.
An alumni of Tuskegee University, Jahi brings together discipline, reflection, and cultural pride in both his writing and his life’s work. His books speak directly to Black parents, especially Black fathers, offering guidance that acknowledges real challenges while affirming the strength that has always existed in our communities.
Jahi is the author of Raising Ours: A Black Parenting Guide for the New Generation, a project born from fatherhood, personal healing, and the recognition that too few parenting resources are created by and for Black families. His writing emphasizes emotional intelligence, self-worth, cultural grounding, and the importance of healing as a lifelong process.
In recognition of his work, Jahi is an International Impact Book Awards winner, an honor that reflects the reach and resonance of his message beyond his immediate community. He continues to write, speak, and build platforms that encourage parents to lead with presence, purpose, and clarity.
When he is not writing, Jahi is focused on family, community-building, and creating work that leaves something meaningful behind, not just for today, but for generations to come.
